What is your favorite character you written about?

Katherine Reay Very tough question. There are few characters I haven't enjoyed -- but Kyle Baines from Dear Mr. Knightley might be my favorite. He completely surprised me. He was supposed to be a small side character, but he came on the scene and "stole the show." He became the driver for much of Sam's change -- such a courageous kid. :) Thanks for asking.

I also really liked Lizzy & Jane -- their rapport was fun to write. All the layers and depth of love that hid behind a lot of upset and anger. :)

Katherine, I was really impressed with how much Sam grew throughout Dr. Mr. Knightly. Did you do a lot of research on the plight of foster-care children or was it a subject that was just on your heart and your characters grew from there?
