Hello everybody! The thing I found al ittle bit puzzling in this book is: Mrs Allen was so eager to find her nephew.She did everything to discover where her husband had sent Clarissa's son. Nevertheless, when she found him she left him at the orphanage. I don't think she feared a new scandal as she was having an affair with the poet...How do you explain this?

Also, I think the pain of it all was just too much to bear. (less)
