How do you get inspired to write?

Jeff Strand Deadlines. The closer I am to my deadline, the more inspired I am to write. My current book deadline is several weeks away, so I'm at a moderate level of inspiration, which will gradually increase as the days pass, until I'm at a truly panicked level of inspiration, inspiration so great that I will stay up all night and drink multiple cans of Red Bull just to keep up with it. Eventually I will e-mail my editor and beg for extra time to let all of this inspiration to flow onto the page. When it's granted I'll realize that, hey, now I've got time to not be quite so inspired, and so my inspiration will turn to things like Netflix and Facebook.
