Goodreads asked Sue Tingey:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Sue Tingey Just write. Don't get bogged down by getting it perfect - it's better to write a complete imperfect novel than one perfect chapter. Once you have the bare bones and story arc down on paper then you can craft it into a masterpiece.
Also know when to accept advice and when not to. If a professional tells you that something doesn't work sit down and try and look at it with their eyes. They're nearly always right.
