So I had this story idea and I was wondering if you have any thrown out, given up on, writing material I can have to use for my story?

Do you have a wheelbarrow in which to transport it? Or maybe a small dump truck? Writing is all about putting your heart on the page and then tearing it up and starting again. It generates a lot of waste material. Of course you need to make your own and I hope your story idea is so strong it requires an extra recycling bin or two. Good luck, Helen S.

I just wanted to say that Major Pettigrew's Last Stand is one of my absolute favorite novels. You've managed to write a tale of new love at a time in a person's life where he or she no longer believes that's possible. My question for you is this: what do you think is the heart of a well-written love story?

Is there another book on the way? My book group read and loved Major Pettigrew last year. Now I am recommending that we read Summer this year. I really liked the way the characters grew as the story progressed and how the book itself changed from a sweet little "women's" story to a much larger and more important story as it progressed. That is the way life so often is -- we discover an entirely new and complex world.

I absolutely loved this book. I listened to it on a car trip. I fell in love with Major Pettigrew and Ali. My favorite quote: "We do what we can. The rest is God's problem." I've added it to my 7th step prayer I read every morning. Thank you for writing this inspiring and absorbing book. I really just wanted to thank you and acknowledge you for that.
