Lois Lowry:
Each book in the Giver series starts from a different perspective and location, and as time goes on the stories begin to merge. Personally I love that they don't completely give away what really happened in the first novel, but I'd like to know if there's a reason why you decided to start each book at a different location and follow a different character before bringing all of these individual stories together?

Hi Lois! We read The Giver with our 6th grade students towards the end of the school year. We've always left the ending of the book open to their interpretation, because you used to approach it in the same fashion. Now that you've come out and said how you intended it to be interpreted, do you think we should still go with an open ending?
