Kristin asked Lois Lowry:

Putting all your books into consideration, which book do you think was the hardest to write, and why?

Lois Lowry THE SILENT BOY was challenging to write, because it uses what is called an "unreliable narrator." And because although the main character is very young...seven at the end of the book...the story is not for young kids. That's why I began with the voice of the old woman.
