Phyllis asked Cheryl Bolen:

Who are your favorite authors?

Cheryl Bolen My readers might be surprised to learn I do not read my own genre. Since I've been writing Regency, I've avoided reading other authors' works to retain my originality. That being said, I adore Georgette Heyer, who created the Regency genre, and have read all her works. There are a few authors whose works I keep going back and rereading because they give me such pleasure, and these are British women in the mid twentieth century. I love Mary Stuart and Josephine Tey. Tey wrote extremely clever mysteries, and Mary Stuart mostly wrote tepid romantic suspense books set in exotic locales and written in impeccable prose. And I love Jane Austen.
