what was your biggest challenge when trying to write your christmas novella?

I think with any novella, because they're so much shorter than a full-length book, the challenge is in crafting characters that readers want to root for. Believe it or not, Shannon, this is hard to do! And it is very hard for the author to be able to gauge her success at this. I keep angsting, hoping my readers will LIKE my characters.
