The story thus far is absolutely great; I wonder whether I am misinterpreting some of it however, as it seems to be tinged with satire and poking fun at fantasy tropes (weak hero, strong hero, romance) in general. Is this the case?

(view spoiler)[I like to include many of the fantasy tropes because people desire and expect them (mostly because they're awesome), but that doesn't mean we can't poke a little fun at them, too. There are so many ways to write a story, but it is a wonderful challenge to approach something that has been done and make it new (and perhaps humorous).
While I include tropes, I avoid making them the focus of the story, at least not in the traditional sense. (BOOK 2 SPOILER) For example, there is a tournament in ROM because, come on, medieval-style epic fantasy has to have a tournament. However, while the tournament is the destination and then setting for most of the book, it is not the focus of the story. Rezkin voices his opinions on tournaments more than once, and he is truly up to much more important things. It so happened that King Caydean had other plans for the tournament as well. Hi Mr. Kade, I have thoroughly enjoyed your books! I have particularly enjoyed that audio book versions, and I was wondering if the audio release of the 3rd book would be delayed from the initial release date, or if the "book" version and "audio" version might occur at the same time? Your work really helped me pass the time at night in my wife's hospital room while she was recovering from her stroke. Thank you!

It has been a while since I have read your books. But I think I remember their being three thief children that you meet. I know that two of them went to the assassins guild. But what will you send the third one. As for the barbarian who the main character fights in the arena. I am wondering if your going to make his dad the man who taught the main character. How to use those really cool blades?!
