Is it required to read the age of darkness before starting the age of dread? I picked up the first age of dread book before realizing there was another series in the same world before this one

Hmm, so technically you can read Mageborn without having read the other novels. I've recapped some stuff from the past where relevant and shorthanded some events, but this is a new trilogy, with new characters in the lead (for the most part). If you read it, like it and want more info on what came before, and certain characters, then you will find some of that in the previous trilogy. However, I would say the story of this trilogy builds on what came before and you would get a more rounded, detailed and layered experience by reading the Age of Dread first.

Really enjoyed the Age of Darkness trilogy. Any plans to revisit the world? I'm especially intruiged with the deities discussed but find Kia bit bit too Lovecraftian for comfort :). I'd love to hear a bit more background to these characters and thought the way they interacted with the mortal characters in the third book very well done. Well done and will definitely be buying the first in your new series.
