Lois Lowry I believe there are people who would say that there ARE existing people wiht similar powers. I got a fascinating letter once from a woman in Rumania who said she was startled when she read MESSENGER because she has the exact power that Matty, in the book, has; and that she was amazed at how well I described the sensations involved. For me, of course, it came from my imagination. But who knows?
