I'm intrigued by this and love the author's short stories, but I have a very hard time reading about animals being mistreated. I know to most people they're just mean, ugly reptiles, and it's just fiction, but I'm overly sensitive to it. Should I skip this?

I have a few spoilers on the review I just posted, so maybe read that to see what I mean, but there's just some unfinished parts of the story (not really important to the overall plot) where the author kind of forgets about some of the animals who were mentioned early in the story and were being cared for by the characters. Hopefully that makes sense. (less)
