Dave Schaafsma
One of the greatest writers on the planet, though I have not read everything, and not even all of the great ones (not yet read Blood Meridian!). I think The Road is just achingly, painfully beautiful, a father-son dystopian tale. And the All The Pretty Horses trilogy has some of the best writing in it I have ever read. As each of those books came out I bought each one (okay, one was a gift, thanks, Andrew), and read it through in basically one or two sittings.

Thank you, David. I feel Cormac McCarthy is currently the greatest writer alive (though Tom Wolfe is quite good). I find a lot of the post-modern authors works exhaustive, talent-less, and boring. Regurgitating cliches. I think the sincere works with little to no irony is refreshing that Cormac delivers. Any other authors you suggest?
