What's the point of continuing this series? Agatha Raisin is a mean shrew who hates everyone, herself most of all. Even the author doesn't like Agatha. M.C.Beaton, has written a mess that doesn't string together, the sentences are uneven, the narrative is unstable, characters hop all over the place, out of sequence. The entire story line skips & dives without any hope of leading to a believable conclusion. FIN

Beaton being a very advanced age and still churning out these books (maybe to fulfill her contract?) and the choppy parts seem like abbreviated notes blended with complete paragraphs that make sense. It's very prominent in the last few books. All of it could (and should) have been fixed by the editor prior to publication. I've been seeing a lot of long running series from a few big mystery publishers with the same issues in the last 6-7 years and it really makes me think a lot of it is their editors and not the writers.(less)
