A.K. White
A.K. White asked Martha Hall Kelly:

Hello Martha, Was there ever a time during your ten years of research that you doubted your ability to write the book and then get a publisher? Or were you confident all along that it would be picked up? Also, was the title your choice? This book was simply amazing on every level, a truly fantastic debut.

Martha Hall Kelly I pretty much doubted all of the above daily and was not confident at all Lilac Girls would be picked up. It's so hard to get published these days, especially as a debut author. But somehow things worked out for me--maybe because I was so focused on making sure Caroline's story was told. Writing it became such a labor of love.
And no, the title was not my choice, but I love it now.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the book!
