Hi, Mr. Grant! I am a new fan of your "Gone" series, as I read the first at the start of this month, and couldn't stop myself from reading the rest for less than a week. Incredible saga, one of the most powerful stories I have read, and I have read a lot. So, just wanted to say "thank you", and ask you two questions, if possible. What happened to John Terrafino and Cinder, for example? Who inspired you, besides King?

Michael Grant I never really think about what happens to characters 'after.' I like to leave that to you, the reader. That's your story to think about and imagine.

As for authors who inspire me? Lots. My wife, Katherine Applegate. Andrew Smith. Daniel Kraus. And on the 'adult' end guys like Patrick O'Brian and George MacDonald Fraser. Too many to list them all!

One question I've been dying to ask, did you have any say in the kids on the covers of your books? Because every time I read one I imagine the kids on the books. Like for instance...when I read Sam I see the guy from the cover of the first book.
