Goodreads asked Michael C. Sahd:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Michael C. Sahd I first thought of Damian a very long time ago. I don’t remember what inspired the character, but I was very young and the thought of writing a blood bath appealed to me. It was a terrible piece, and I shelved the story. However, Damian as a character stayed in the back of my mind.

Later, after watching the anime “Cowboy Bebop” and Joss Whedon’s “Firefly” series, I dusted Damian off. I wrote the first version of “Assassin Marked” during a college creative writing class. The story, inspired by these two shows, was still rough. But I kept it, and revised it, and revised it, and revised it.

After marrying, my wonderful wife (who is an amazing editor, by the way) really spruced up my story and pushed me to publish.
