Should I read The Twelve Kingdoms before I start on The Pages of the Mind? Thanks!

So... there's debate about this among my readers. I almost feel like you should ask THEM, but I'll tell you what I see them saying. :-) Overwhelmingly I see the advice that The Pages of the Mind is a good place to jump in - that you won't be lost and the book starts the new direction just fine. That said, most of the die-hards recommend starting with The Mark of the Tala (book one in The Twelve Kingdoms) for the best payoff. I know quite a lot of readers started with The Pages of the Mind and then immediately went back to The Mark of the Tala. Not a very helpful answer, maybe!

I just finished binge reading every book in the 12 Kingdoms universe and now I'm going through withdrawals lol. I love how well you tied everything together throughout the books, really amazing story telling! I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. Do you know how many more books will continue in the series? I'm so curious who the next POV character will be. Also is there a story behind Salena's seashells?
