Christen Ellis
Christen Ellis asked Dianne K. Salerni:

How did you make the leap from teacher to writer? Also, thanks so much for answering questions on GoodReads! My students appreciate seeing authors answering questions from readers!

Dianne K. Salerni I've been writing all my life, and as a teacher, I often wrote for my class. I wrote limericks using their names, stories about explorers to use in history class, and lots of creative writing which I shared with them. I first had a book published in 2010, and I spent a few years doing both jobs -- a published author and a teacher. In 2014, after discussing it with my husband, I decided to leave teaching and write full time. This enables me to attend conferences and book festivals and make school visits as an author -- something I couldn't do when I was a teacher myself. When I was a kid, I only ever wanted to be two things, a teacher or an author. I feel very lucky that I have had the opportunity to be both!
