I totally fell in love with The Serpent King and I just received my copy of Goodbye Days yesterday evening. What does it take to write a good book? How do you approach writing a book?My dream's to be a writer.I am currently trying to write something but I'm not sure if it's good enough or not. What makes a book so good that readers get attached to it that much(like your books)?? CAN'T WAIT TO READ GOODBYE DAYS!!!

Jeff Zentner Thanks Karim!! To write a good book requires you to know and love the people you’re writing about. Before I write one of my books, I invite the characters into my head for several months to listen to their voices and get to know them so that they can tell me their stories.

I had read goodbye days before the Serpent king(I didn't even realized Dill was Dearly in good bye days until afterwords) So what I wanted to ask is something that Maggie Stiefvater had told the kids at my library about her "first thought" the first thing she had thought of before she even came up with her Shiver series was "to make people sad" what was your first thought before you had started to write your books?
