I would definitely say it’s too adult, and I’m not a conservative person! There’s lots of language, adult themes like suicide, mental illness, disturbing monsters, dead people/hallucinations with rotting flesh, etc.
Jeff Brandt
Too adult. There are some gruesome stuff going on in the book. Several adult themes. It is a grownup version (in many ways) of Scooby Doo, but much darker and much scarier. A good read, by the way.

Not if you want them to like you. A terrible and pretentious book. Find them something nice. It is a sort of grown up Famous Five - read them the original; they will like you more than if you inflict this on them.

If they're old enough to read it themselves and find it interesting, let 'em at it! But if your audience is of the ordinary ages for being read to, all of you will be very uncomfortable if you try it.
Meredith Smith
Too adult. Lots of adult relationship themes that children will not understand and I would feel uncomfortable to reading to anyone under 18.
Roberta
OK if your kids are in their twenties. Otherwise I would read them something else.

I'm going to say it's too adult and I work with teens. There are mature themes, as other have mentioned, including suicide, mental illness, language, and some narration of sexual feelings. Oh yeah, and gross monsters & dead people.

Rated R and a sexual molestation...even if it is a nightmare. Too adult.
