Ed Ireland asked Jacqueline Rhoades:

What quality makes a character your most loved character?

Jacqueline Rhoades For me, it's finding the soft spot in the character's humanity (even when they aren't human) and revealing it slowly to the reader. My proudest moments as an author have been the times I've taken a character readers don't initially like, but end up loving because they see the walls that character has had to build to protect themselves from the hurt and pain they've experienced in their past. I know it's an old cliché, but if you can make a reader walk a mile in that character's shoes, it's a beautiful thing.
