Ferne (Enthusiastic Reader) asked Myla Goldberg:

I was so delightfully surprised to discover the names of Montgomery County (PA) school districts in your novel, "Bee Season." Have you lived/visited in this area?

Myla Goldberg I've done neither! The location was purely strategic. I grew up in a D.C. suburb, and wanted to draw in a vague way from my own experiences of growing up in an east coast suburban area, but the trip to D.C. for the spelling bee needed to be special, so I had to put Eliza somewhere further flung. The Philly suburbs seemed a good fit, and I had a friend who grew up there so I was able to draw on her experience a little when I needed to make sure I had the details right.
