Sam Whitehouse
Sam Whitehouse asked David Estes:

What's your writing routine? Do you have a set word count every day?

David Estes Thanks for the question, Sam! When I'm in the midst of a new project (which I usually am), I DO have a pretty set writing routine. I ALWAYS write in the morning, while I'm feeling fresh, usually between 8am-1pm. Somewhere in that time period, I write for about three hours, while trying to hit a word count goal of 3,000 words. Back when I was writing the Dwellers/Country Sagas and publishing a book every 2-3 months I was regularly writing 4,000-5,000 words per day, with occasional days hitting 8,000+ words. But since then I've slowed down a bit, and have found 3,000 words per day to be a good amount for me. Although I haven't published a book in a year, I have 4 new ones coming out before the end of 2014!!

Thanks again for the awesome question!
