While it does deal with a tragic situation and going back and forth to figure out what happened, I can't connect to any of the characters. In 13 Reasons Why, I connected with Clay and Hannah from the start and wanted to figure out why Hannah did what she did. In Hate List, I can't and the going back and forth feels extremely forced. I don't want any connection to Valerie and she's coming across as extremely shallow. So, I would give Hate List a hard pass. (less)
