Like a lot of authors, I would imagine, I get inspired to write by the desire to tell myself stories. Mostly, I'm just trying to keep myself entertained on boring subway rides and flights and while walking around NYC, where I live. I work most of the details of my novels out in my head, down to bits of dialogue, and then when I finally sit down at my desk I dump it all out onto the page and sort it out as I go.
