In regards to Kickstarter and the Disappearance of Winter's Daughter. I absolutely love having your previous books in hardcover and your Death of Dulgath kickstarter was handled so well. You've been updating the writing progress side of things over on the book page [and thanks for that!] but am wondering about how a Kickstarter and hence a hardcover, is looking? Thank you.

Hey thanks for asking. So, here's the deal. We had a publisher that was interested in making a bid for the book, and until I had a final decision about that, I didn't want to post anything about a Kickstarter...because there wouldn't be one. Well, negotiations are finally done and we didn't see eye-to-eye on various contract terms. (I wasn't surprised, but I thought it was worth hearing them out for a number of reasons).
So, with that not going through, I WILL be doing a Kickstarter. I also want to have the delivery of the books as close to the completion of the KS as possible, so I'm getting the book 100% wrapped before I launch the KS. The purpose of the KS will be to (a) allow people to pre-order (b) provide funds for the hardcovers. If the KS fails, we won't have hardcovers, but I'm pretty confident that it'll succeed.
The book is with the copy editors, the recording date for the audio is scheduled, and now all I have to determine is the print costs. Robin is gonna do a preliminary "layout" based on the un copyedited version of the book (it shouldn't change page count with copy edits incorporated) and then we can get some printing bids. With that information in hand, I'll know how much I need to raise, and we can kick off the Kickstarter (pun intended). I'm shooting for launching the Kickstarter October 1 and closing it sometime near the end of October. If we get the books on the presses then, we should be able to ship them to people in early December. So, the pieces are all falling into place. I hope to have more information soon. For those who want to sign up to be notified when the Kickstarter begins, here is a link.

Just finished the Legends of the First Empire series and loved it! I am planning on reading your older series which I understand takes place later in the same universe. Question: is there a difference between the "Riyria Chronicles" and "Riyria Revelations"? I'm a little confused about which book is first in that series or even how many books there are. Thanks in advance! ~Emily
