Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Annette McGivney My idea for Pure Land grew out of story I wrote for Backpacker magazine called "Freefall." It was about a murder in Grand Canyon. At the time the case was expected to go to trial and so I couldn't get any personal info on the victim or the murderer. But I wanted to know about their lives and their motivations that led them to the fateful encounter. It took years of digging but I feel Pure Land is the most interesting thing I have ever written.
