Is Ascend Online the prequel to Hell to Pay?

Luke Chmilenko Hi Montzalee! Hell to Pay doesn't specifically require you to read Ascend Online, but the first book does give more hints about the overall back story (With regards to the Real World) and mechanics about the game that are glossed over in explanation.

But that being said, if you've read a few LitRPG books already, you should be able to jump into Hell to Pay without missing anything at all!
