That's so kind! Thanks for reading my books -- and there's no greater compliment than to know a reader is dreading getting to the end. Such a great question about a favorite book. I don't really have one favorite -- more like a few dozen of them. As you can tell, THE IMPORTANCE OF LIVING by Lin Yutang is definitely one of them. But I do have a favorite author: Christopher Isherwood. You?

I recognized the description of Chris Maxey in the short review in "The New Yorker" of WE SHOULD NOT BE FRIENDS. Your memoir is about Maxey who started Island School? I look forward to reading your memoir, as my son was there in Fall 2007 when Eleuthera took an almost direct hit from Hurricane Noel. The students had so much respect for (combined with a bit of fear of) Maxey. Island School was life-changing for Seth.
