Terry Miller
Terry Miller asked Ann Moore:

Hi Anne, I am currently on the third book of the trilogy. Loving them all. I wonder how you learned the really great language used by the characters? I mean the Irish and the syntax of their conversation.

Ann Moore Hello Terry! I'm only seeing these questions now, for some reason, so my apologies for the long wait! I'm so glad you're enjoying the trilogy, and I hope the third book ended well for you. I did a lot of research for those novels, and the rhythm of the language was the most difficult part. I read 19th century novels written by Irish authors, and I also began watching Irish period films and television series, and eventually I began to hear the correct cadence in my head. Once the characters became fully themselves, they added their own personal nuance to the dialogue. Thank you so much for writing; that was a great question!
