Shelley
Shelley asked Philip Caputo:

Do your dual hometowns influence your writing? And if you had to choose just one, which would it be? Thank you.

Philip Caputo Sorry for taking so long to answer. Somehow, I missed spotting your question. My dual hometowns do affect my writing to an extent. For example, my 2009 novel, "Crossers," takes place in southern Arizona and in Sonora. So does my later novel, "Some Rise By Sin." A novella I wrote, "Standing In" is part of a collection titled "Exiles," and its setting is Connecticut. Were I to choose one hometown, it would be Patagonia, Arizona, partly because I love its small-town sense of community, partly because I love even more the landscapes, culture, and atmosphere of the Southwest.
