how did you feel about writing the end to jay and marna's journey? was it as heart breaking for you as it was for us?

Yes, that was very difficult. They were both my kindest characters and I loved them dearly. But I know Marna made the choice that filled her with hope and love, and Jay will make the best of life no matter what, especially since he now has another person to live for - someone who needs him.
And to be honest, even up to the very last draft before publication, I ALMOST changed Marna's fate, but I knew I needed to be true to the rules of the story world.
