Does the series need to be read in order? I've already read Never Coming Back without realizing it was the fourth book.

Tim Weaver Hey Sam! No, not at all. In fact, if you've read Never Coming Back first, I'd suggest going for The Dead Tracks next, and then Vanished, as those three operate a kind of unofficial trilogy (at least in my head!) and will fill in a lot of detail about the Raker/Healy stuff.
