A Goodreads user asked Ann Livi Andrews:

Hi, Ann, Supreme Overlord, with all respect. I am merely a reader. That is to say, I hold down a job to pay the rent and buy books. How can I best support a writer when I buy a physical book, in that I kick around four non-functional ereaders ( stupid word). Do I buy from the iwner of this website, do I order by mail from an indie bookseller, what? Buy used only when author has been dust for decades, ortheir heirs.

Ann Livi Andrews Hello Virginia!

Thanks for reaching out :) When it comes to physical books - odd that we have to specify these days, isn't it? What a crazy world we live in! :) - I think most of us would agree that we enjoy knowing that you have a physical copy of our work. And thanks to Goodreads and their giveaway options, it's now easier than ever to get signed copies!

Goodreads itself does not sell books, but they do link to authors' websites and Amazon listings. If you're truly looking for the best way to actively support the authors you've come to love, buying new via their site or Amazon is the best way to build them up as it has the greatest effect on their ranking.

Interacting with them on Goodreads is also a great way to show your support. I think all authors enjoy hearing from a fan on their social pages. Goodreads gives some great options in that regard as well. You can find discussions about your favorite authors and their individual books, as well as participate in Q&A's with that author when they host them.

I hope this answers your question!

Thank you!
Ann
