Sara Dahmen Thank you for the question, Jeff!

I am one of those boring people who likes to read all about history - past and present - so a historical fiction made sense; it gave me an excuse to research a lot of things, from settler/Native American relations, language, and whether canning produce was available in the average 1880's kitchen! This was also a cathartic write, as I personally have dealt with some of the issues of the protagonist and it was (afterwards I realized anyway) a way to do some self-therapy!
