When you start research for a book, do you start to find several rabbit holes? How do you ultimately chose one over the others? Do you put a pin in them and revisit later or start fresh?

As I'm researching one thing, I do tend to find areas or plots or time periods
that are tangentially related that I'm interested in and I can sometimes get sidetracked by them for a moment. But I'm always thinking of new books as I'm writing so I try to tell myself that if I still feel this pull in a few months or next year, my next book can be about that.
I find Pinterest really helpful for this because you can create totally private boards where you can stick everything that calls to you and come back to it once you're done researching and see if any of it still pulls you in.

So I am kicking myself for not picking up your books years ago! I started with Maybe in Another Life, recently finished One True Loves, and am about the finish Forever, Interrupted. You're writing is incredibly relatable! I am anxious to pick up The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, as I have heard soo many good reviews. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is so rich with film history of a certain kind from Hollywood to the French new Wave. Were there any specific films that inspired you or that you find you can just watch over and over again? Did you see bringing any cinematic elements into the storytelling?
