Sarah asked:

I got through about 1/3 of the book and Gwen will not stop talking about her 'Gypsy Gift.' As she is a Roma, is her Romani heritage and myth ever discussed, or does the author keep using 'gypsy' (which is kind of a racial slur) and just use Gwen's heritage to make her seem exotic?

Miranda Robertson Later on in the story, the author explains the 'gypsy' term. It really doesn't have much to do with her 'Romani heritage' at all. Gypsy has a different meaning in the book than in real life.
Makayla Shoner I wouldn't look to much into why the author decided to call her a gypsy. In a way how gypsy were always portray as fortune tellers and stuff. It really fit with Gwen's character. So try not to get to hung up on it.
