Goodreads asked Bruce Beckham:

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?

Bruce Beckham I’m not a reader of science fiction (unless Tolkein counts) – and so my ‘worlds’ are more historical than fictional. Conan Doyle’s Victorian London springs to mind, with its cloaking fogs and clattering hooves; also Agatha Christie’s art deco opulence aboard ocean liners and overnight trains; and 1920s urban USA would be a whizz, haunt of the hard-boiled gumshoe sleuth.

But etched into my heart since boyhood is the world of Barney and Stig; especially that midsummer’s night when pylons and hedgerows disappear, and England’s chalk downland reverts to the Stone Age; campfires flicker and resonant tribal chants fill the air.

What would I do there? Build a den. Make bowsanarrers. Hunt with Stig!
