Congratulations on all your success! When you start writing, or have a concept or an idea for a piece, do you map out how it's going to go before you begin or do you just start and see where you end up?

Roxane Gay I do a lot of thinking but I don't do a lot of formal structural work like mapping or outlining.

As a novice in the area of understanding feminism I (myself) wonder, do you, as a female feel that the general perception of modern feminism is accurate or do you feel that the mass media and traditionalists have morphed it into something it was never intended to be? (I.E. "man hating")
