Chris
Chris asked Ian Rankin:

I really like how you use Edinburgh as a setting and really really like it when you take your stories on the road to other parts of Scotland, and incorporate bits of history. How did the little coffins in the Nat'l Museum come to your attention for The Falls?

Ian Rankin I was in the museum to do an interview for Japanese TV. A curator recognised me and said I should go look at the little coffins. I'd been unaware of their story until then. I liked that they represent an enduring real-life mystery.
