Where did the idea for the MECH WARS series come from?

Scott Bartlett It was a natural offshoot of the story from The Ixan Prophecies Trilogy. In that series, Darkstream fled the Milky Way to escape the consequences of their actions there. But before it left, Darkstream was the biggest interstellar corporation in the galaxy - it employed A LOT of people...and two million of them went with the company! Most of them disagree with the company's treatment in the Milky Way, and they want to create a society according to their own rules. That seemed like fertile ground for a series to take root. Not to mention, I wanted to find out what happened to Darkstream myself, so of course, I had to write it!
