Do you read in genre while writing?

Rory Church This is a good question. I just returned from RWA 2017 conference in Orlando. Great Conference - Soooo Much is changing. Frequently authors do say they refrain from reading in their genre while writing to avoid any cross contamination. I think that is a valid comment. I read in many genre all the time including nonfiction and news/financial magazines as well. And, yes, I do continue to read in my genre of romantic suspense. I am cognizant though of the unconscious potential to contaminate my artistic vision. I would like to think I am able to guard against that cross contamination - but I do look back over my writing with an eye to this issue.
