Fishface asked Lance Morcan:

The book page for SILENT FEAR says it is based on true crimes, plural. Which true crimes is the novel based on?

Lance Morcan As per the book's subtitle (A novel inspired by true crimes), SILENT FEAR is not "based" on true crimes, rather it is "inspired by"...
The crimes alluded to are the murders of deaf students at Galleaudet University, in Washington, D.C., in the early 2000s. For a time the authorities didn't know whether the murders were inside jobs or the work of someone on the outside.
