What is your writing process?

Taylor Jenkins Reid I try to focus on word count per day. So when I do first drafts, I aim to write a set word count every Monday - Friday until the book is done. That means that I can usually predict the day the book will be done when I start it.

After that, each additional draft is measured by how many words I have to edit a day. It keeps things somewhat neat and tidy and allows for me to hit my deadlines as needed. It also means some days I'm working a reasonable number of hours and sometimes I'm pulling my hair out, working well after I put my daughter to bed.
