What part of Evelyn's story came to you first? What were you doing at the time it came to you?

I was reading Vanity Fair in bed one night in 2013, I think, when I came up with the idea. There was an excerpt of Ava Gardener's posthumous memoir and I came up with the idea of a legendary star revealing her secrets to a reporter she has a connection to.
I immediately got to work on Evelyn's name and her childhood. What pushed her to Hollywood? That felt like the biggest thing I had to figure out first.
