How did you hear about the Alice Network? And did the real leader die during the war?

This answer contains spoilers…
(view spoiler)[I first heard about the historic Alice Network in a non-fiction book "Women Heroes of WWI" by Kathryn J. Atwood (highly recommended--interesting essays about any number of unsung women from the Great War).
SPOILERS AFTER THIS: (I'm not sure if the spoiler tag applied, so just in case, read no further unless you've finished "The Alice Network"!
The real leader of the network (Louise de Bettignies, code name Alice Dubois, also nicknamed Lili in my book) died after her arrest and trial when she was sent to Siegburg prison in Germany. She succumbed after being operated upon (badly, in a prison infirmary) for what was probably a pleural abscess. For the sake of the story's pacing I condensed her post-operation suffering--the real Louise de Bettignies managed to hang on as an invalid for some months post-operation--but yes, she did die in prison shortly before the war ended. Kate Quinn:
Hey Kate! I want to thank you for such wonderful books that I keep going back to. I swear, it's an incessant stream of fangirling on my part. I am not sure if I've seen it somewhere or not, but do you have any plans after finishing the collab on the Boudica novel? I can't get enough of your writing since I first picked up Mistress of Rome a couple of years ago, probably shortly after you first released it.
