Hi. I just love your writing. It's so light get so deep and engrossing. Looking forward to reading more of your novels. How long does it generally take to bring an idea into reality to a published book? And how do you really process an idea? How do you know this is what you want to work upon?

Taylor Jenkins Reid Thank you!! For the past five years, I've been writing a book a year. That means when one book is in the final editing stages, I start thinking about what I want to write next.

I tend to have a lot of ideas at first, and then find that one idea really starts to take shape in my mind. From there, I start thinking about all of the plot points and characters and themes. I buy a notebook that feels like it matches with the idea. And then around the fall of each year, I start writing the first draft. I work on multiple drafts until the late spring/early summer when I turn it into my editor. From the time I turned in to my editor, it takes about a year until it's published.

So from the beginning of the idea until it's on the bookshelf, it's about two years.
