I believe I read somewhere on the site that E.B.White thought he didn't have much longer to live, so he rushed this book to publication. That might explain why it feels somewhat unfinished.

Yes, I agree this book is a real cliff hanger but I do not think there is a sequel.

There is a second book, but it's like a kid book. There's only, like, some 35 pages. But I agree, this book does need an ending.
